Am I the only one that is so ashamed?

AM I THE ONLY ONE?
I have no idea if I should be writing this to you – still so very many of you have been friends for half a lifetime so when you have to talk to someone; I guess you guys are it.
During the afternoon I usually have a snack, not a real lunch, just some grapes, love those red seedless ones and maybe a cracker or two with a bit of cheese, peanut butter, cream cheese or whatever is handy to tied me over till dinner. We have our breakfast so late, usually around 9 or later so that it fine. During this snack time around 2 P M usually I look at TV, switch between Hard Ball on channel 47, Wolf Blitzer on 44 and to get the Republican view I go to Fox on 48.
If it starts getting too wild I switch off, as the doc said stress is my no no – today I wish I had. They had stuff on – scenes of the latest nutcases marching, for some reason I was crouching down in my easy chair – then it hit me. In all of my 80 years of being born as an American, being a soldier, living in America, loving this country, honoring our nation, saluting our flag, being so proud of the land of my birth – I found myself ashamed of being American. It is the worst feeling I have ever had.
I thought of all of those pictures, those signs, those guns being carried at rallies, they were being shown all over the world – this was happening in my country, our country, the United States of America and for no reason, it was all supposed to be over a discussion about how to fix the nation’s health care. The almost 50 million of our nation’s people that have no care, it was as bad as Iran, 2nd and 3rd world nations and this is my country, people in my country doing this? Yes, I was so ashamed – as a Democrat I was ashamed, if I was a Republican I would be even more ashamed. Those people are certainly not Democrats and they are not Republicans at least any I know and I know a lot. They are a radical, bigoted, ignorant, uncaring, selfish, horrible element that never should exist, they are not Americans, not any I know – how did they come to exist in our nation?
It does not matter what the discussion is, be it health care or any other bill of the people there should be discussion, all sides being able to express their thoughts. Not the rabble screaming, yelling, shouting threats, “next time I will bring a gun!” one yelled. And with the cameras, the news as it is today the whole world gets to see our shame.
If this is what America has descended to, I am glad that I am as old as I am so I will not have to see this for a lifetime. I want to be proud of my nation. These screaming idiots are not the free speech our American soldiers died for by the hundreds of thousands since our nation’s founding.
I would have liked to have shaken each of them as I would a child, but it would not do any good, please God tell me they are not Americans, that it was some kind of spoof.
Am I the only one that is so ashamed? – it made me wanted to cry!

Dear Uncle Fred,
If whata you are referring to is the Patriots March on Washington… I am ashamed of YOU!
These people were protesting big governbment control of everything.
The Bail-outs were un american.
Czars are Un American.
Taking over industries is un american.
There were Democrats at the rally… and Black People Too.
You need to wake the hell up and turn off MSNBC. Those idiots wouldn’t know a real grass roots movement if they were in it.

Patriots with guns? – screaming – it insults all thinking people. That issues are to be resolved by nuts? Wow – God I hope not.
We are the only nation of over 30 industrialized nations on this earth that does not have a national health care plan for all its people. This is the reason our industry cannot compete with other nations, all of our products are overpriced.
The answer to these complexed problems in your opinion is idiots in the streets with guns and signs showing our president as a Hitler?
If that is your answer to working on issues of such national importance – then I question your thinking, is is badly flawed.

A lot of these teabaggers are protesting the size of deficits being run up by Obama. Fair enough, but where were they a year ago? Two years ago? Five years ago when Bush was busy increasing the size of the federal deficit by $6.5 trillion? I don’t remember seeing them on the street corner then with their signs protesting the deficit. How about for the last twenty years or so while three Republican administrations (Reagan, Bush and Bush)were running up $11.5 trillion in federal deficits? Where have all these teabaggeras been the last twenty years, out of the country? On the moon? I guess in their minds only those deficits incurred by Democratic presidents actually count. Go figure!

Years ago,the Democrats allowed the far-left,hate America College professor/Hollywood types a place at their table,and did not do enough to distance themselves from that vocal minorities appalling comments.The vast majority of Democrats ARE NOT like Ward Churchill,yet our country punished the Democratic party with defeat after defeat for that ill considered association.Now the situation is reversed.The new Democratic party and leadership have shown the nut-case America-is always wrong set the door.The Republicans have now invited the fringe hate America,hate blacks,hate that evil U.S. government crowd into thier tent.The Republicans will rue the day they ever allowed these fringe idiots to speak for them.My prediction is,the Republicans will suffer mightily-at least as badly as the Democrats,and for at least as long-for letting these folks lead their parade.The fact is,most of us,including me,love our country even with our faults,and we don’t need anyone-Right or Left-to tell us how awful it is.At any given time there is a line out the door at our embassies of folks who want desperately to come here and make a new life.I used to say to the far left,and now I will say to the far right-go trade places with one of these families that want so badly to come live in America.I will help you pack!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Mark.
