You asked for home remedies. I don't personally know any, except when I was pre-school age and had a cold, my mother would rub VapoRub on my chest and cover it with a flanel cloth every night. It didn't help the cold but I hated the VapoRub treatment so mcuh, I would say that I felt better. "The Wall Street Journal" of 11-3-09 had an article, "Home Flu Clues: Bad Medicine?", that mentioned onions in a room (like you tried); to garlic to attract viruses similar to onions, but you can carry garlic in your pocket (hung in windows or chimneys it could ward off vampires and werewolves, too); and hydrogen peroxide drops in your ears. There are also herbal remedies and chicken soup or many other hot liquid. No sensible person believes any of these to work. I wanted to hear the results of your test of the honey and cinammon treatment. I gave my wife some on cream cheese on a bagel and she liked the taste but neither of us thought it would have any curative power.

Thanks for your weekly "blog". Ken Walpert
