When I started this I was really hoping to get some input from the ladies, young, old, figured it would be fun. My principal reason is the morning paper. One of the first things I read is the a gals advise column, I disagree far more than I agree with her advise, sometimes I want to shout and scream at her. My bride, Sally, has put up with me for 58 years and tells me to calm down, the standards of dating, the morals of our age and those of today are so different. So, that to me is what is wrong with marriages, the reason so many fail today.
Take communication, from what I read many couples can’t even seem to communicate with each other. Those writing in, mostly ladies say that if they say this or that to their husbands they get mad, so they don’t communicate and it festers in their minds, often leading to divorce. Many of the things are little, some are big, he does something in sex that they don’t like, or around the house he never helps with the kids, etc. etc.
I think back in my marriage, Sally was not only my lover, but she has always been my best friend, every thought, every thing I did, we did, was always discussed together. What I am trying to say to the younger gals, why would you marry a guy that you can not talk too? If he is not one that you can discuss anything, faults, good stuff, then you damn well better not marry him. It just blows my mind that girls will marry just to marry, if a guy will not communicate, will not be considerate, will not express himself and let you express yourself, you are a damn fool to marry him as it will only get worse.
Are the ladies now days so afraid that they will never get married that they are so stupid. I truly would love to hear some comments, as to why the ladies of this era can’t communicate with their husbands?
Maybe the standards of the 1940′s and 50′s and earlier were not so bad after all. Uncle Fred
