http://www.automatic-investment-management.com/225/getting-it-off-my-chest/ A blog by Uncle Fred Mon, 12 Jul 2010 14:51:46 +0000 hourly 1 http://wordpress.org/?v=3.2.1 http://www.automatic-investment-management.com/225/getting-it-off-my-chest/comment-page-1/#comment-439 mark salerno Tue, 18 May 2010 02:35:30 +0000 http://www.automatic-investment-management.com/?p=225#comment-439 As usual,Uncle Fred is right on.Obama is a good man,who was handed the keys to bankrupt country.I am not sure our mess is even fixable,you can see our President's hair going gray already.I hope he doesn't work himself to death like FDR did,trying to fix the Republican mess.In our country now,the top 4% control 54% of our nation's wealth,huge bonuses earned by liquidating all the midwest small town manufacturing jobs.Tea partiers take note,those CEO f***ers don't need another tax-cut.As for the border and the war on drugs,it's all a sham.The north all but shut down the confederacy's borders using wooden ships and sailors with spy-glasses.You can't tell me the borders could not be nearly shut with the incredible technology our military has today.The truth is,intercepting 90% of drugs instead of 10% just gives more money to the evil druglords.We have wasted a trillion dollars and filled our prisons with people on drug charges-it is a lost cause.Prohibition was a lost cause.people still wanted a drink,and now the bad guys got lots of money to buy guns and judges.We are swimming against the current.I think we have to go the Dutch route-legalize,tax,and regulate the crap,and spend the savings on education and rehabilitation,just like alcohol and tobacco.Just so you know,I am no fan of drugs.I lost some good friends to them during the 1970's.Last point-as to the Hispanics,I work with them.They are the nicest guys,and they work damn hard.They think that every job is a job worth doing well.They obey the laws.They are real fathers to their children,they push education for their kids.They are in short,every bit as good as all the world's other unwanted people who came here and made the greatest nation on earth.If our government is serious about fixing social security,and they are not planning on encouraging all Americans to have 5,6,7,8 kids again like the 1950's and early 1960's,how better to fix social security than to triple the number of young people from our Hispanic neighboring nations,who want to come here to work and,incidentally,to pay taxes into the system?Why should they have to carry their kids across a dangerous desert at night?Why should they fear a policeman?Make it cheap,safe and legal for them to come here.What is at work here is the same prejudice that many immigrant groups,including the Irish,Italians and Jews faced when they came here in great numbers in past centuries.Mark.
