Dear Friends, The following was sent to me by Dale, a dear friend for almost 60 years. The first article is by an Air Force doctor an extremely thoughtful article that is extremely long but should be read by any thinking and concerned citizen of this world of ours. The comments following that are from a member of Dale’s discussion group. However, your old Uncle Fred would like to make a few comments before you read these two very thoughtful articles.
Number one – I hate this crap about using the word ’WAR’ that is right and that is wrong in my opinion- I truly belive we should get our tails out of Iraq immediately. If there is civil war there and thousands are killed – so be it. The Iraq’s seem to want to kill each other, all the different Muslem sects - let em do it – let them sort it out —our boys are being killed trying to keep them away from each others throats. I know that is awful to say but it must be said. YES – I agree tha we are at war against Muslem terrorist – hat is a fact, however that is world wide, that is undercover work. That must be done by the CIA, or world anti-terrorist groups – NOT OUR SOLIDIERS standing between groups that hate each other, is not what our boys should be doing.
I fully believe most of what the air force doctor says is true - however I truly belive we should be out of Iraq, a world terrorist undercover organization must be established to fight this threat. The terrorists would love nothing better than for us to spend our nation into bankruptcy, which we are doing now. That only helps their cause to destroy us and all nations of the Christian world. We should not waste our wealth in a deep black hole, only by maintaining a strong nation with high standards can we defeat the Muslim terrorists that wish to destroy us and the entire Christian world. We must invest our funds in educating our kids, building a strong econmony, throwing our assests down a deep hole is only helping their cause.

A different spin on the war in Iraq: This WAR is REAL

To get out of a difficulty, one usually must go through it. Our country is now facing the most serious threat to its existence, as we know it, that we have faced in your lifetime and mine (which includes WWII).
The deadly seriousness is greatly compounded by the fact that there are very few of us who think we can possibly lose this war and even fewer who realize what losing really means.
First, let’s examine a few basics:
1 When did the threat to us start?

2 Why were we attacked?
Envy of our position, our success, and our freedoms. The attacks happened during the administra tions of Presidents Carter, Reagan, Bush 1, Clinton and Bush 2. We cannot fault either the Republicans or Democrats, as there were no provocations by any of the presidents or their immediate predecessor, President Ford.
3 Who were the attackers?

Thus, almost the same number of Christians were killed by the Nazis as the six million holocaust Jews who were killed by them, and we seldom hear of anything other than the Jewish atrocities. Although Hitler kept the world focused on the Jews, he had no hesitancy in killing anyone who got in the way of his extermination of the Jews or of taking over the world – German, Christian, or any others.
Same with the Muslim terrorists. They focus the world on the
– killing all of us “infidels.” I don’t blame the peaceful Muslims. What would you do if the choice was to remain silent or be killed?
6 So who are we at war with?
There is no way we can honestly respond that it is anyone other than the Muslim terrorists. Trying to be politically correct and avoid verbalizing this conclusion can well be fatal. There is no way to win if you don’t clearly recognize and articulate who you are fighting.
So with that background, now to the two major questions:
1 Can we lose this war?
2 What does losing really mean?
If we are to win, we must clearly answer these two pivotal questions:
We can definitely lose this war and, as anomalous as it may sound, the major reason we can lose is that so many of us simply do not fathom the answer to the second question – What does losing mean?
It would appear that a great many of us think that losing the war means hanging our heads, bringing the troops home, and going on about our business, like post-Vietnam. This is as far from the truth as one can get.
What losing really means is:
We would no longer be the premier country in the world. The attacks will not subside, but, rather, will steadily increase. Remember, they want us dead, not just quiet. If they had just wanted us quiet, they would not have produced an increasing series of attacks against us over the past 18 years. The plan was, clearly, for terrorists to attack us until we were neutered and submissive to them.
We would, of course, have no future support from other nations, for fear of reprisals and for the reason that they would see; we are impotent and cannot help them..
They will pick off the other non-Muslim nations, one at a time. It will be increasingly easier for them. They already hold
The next will probably be
Without our support,
If we lose the war, our production, income, exports, and way of life will all vanish as we know it. After losing, who would trade or deal with us if they were threatened by the Muslims? If we can’t stop the Muslim terrorists, how could anyone else?
The radical Muslims fully know what is riding on this war, and therefore are completely committed to winning, at any cost. We’d better know it, too, and be likewise committed to winning at any cost.
Why do I go on at such lengths about the results of losing? Simple. Until we recognize the costs of losing, we cannot unite and really put 100% of our thoughts and efforts into winning. And it is going to take that 100% effort to win.
So, how can we lose the war?
Again, the answer is sim ple. We can lose the war by “imploding.” That is, defeating ourselves by refusing to recognize the enemy and their purpose and failing to dig in and lend full support to the war effort. If we are united, there is no way that we can lose. If we continue to be divided, there is no way that we can win.
Let me give you a few examples of how we simply don’t comprehend the life and death seriousness of this situation:
President Bush selects Norman Mineta as Secretary of Transportation. Although all of the terrorist attacks were committed by Muslim men between 17 and 40 years of age, Secretary Mineta refuses to allow profiling. Does that sound like we are taking this thing seriously? This is war! For the duration, we are going to have to give up some of the civil rights to which we have become accustomed. We had better be prepared to lose some of our civil rights temporarily or we will most certainly lose all of them permanently.
And don’t worry that it is a slippery slope. We gave up plenty of civil rights during WWII, and immediately restored them after the victory … and, in fact, added many more since that time.
Do I blame President Bush or President Clinton before him?
No, I blame us for blithely assuming we can maintain all of our Political Correctness and all of our civil rights during this conflict and have a clean, lawful, honorable war. None of those words apply to war. Get them out of your head.
Some have gone so far in their criticism of the war and/or the Administration that it almost seems they would literally like to see us lose.
I think some actually do. I hasten to add that this isn’t because they are disloyal. It is because they just don’t recognize what losing means. Nevertheless, that conduct gives the impression to the enemy that we are divided and weakening. It concerns our friends and it does great damage to our cause.
Of more recent vintage, the uproar fueled by the politicians and media regarding the treatment of some prisoners of war perhaps exemplifies best what I am saying. We have recently had an issue involving the treatment of a few Muslim prisoners of war, by a small group of our military police.. These are the type prisoners who just a few months ago were throwing their own people off buildings, cutting off their hands, cutting out their tongues, and otherwise murdering their own just for disagreeing with Saddam Hussein.
And, just a few years ago, these same type prisoners chemically killed 400,000 of their own people for the same reason. They are also the same type of enemy fighters who recently were burning Americans and dragging their charred corpses through the streets ofIraq. And, still more recently, the same type of enemy that was and is providing videos to all news sources internationally of the beheading of American prisoners they held.
Compare this with some of our press and politicians, who for several days have thought and talked about nothing else but the “humiliating” of some Muslim prisoners — not burning them, not dragging their charred corpses through the streets, not beheading them, but “humiliating” them.
Can they be for real?
The politicians and pundits have even talked of impeachment of the Secretary of Defense. If this doesn’t show the complete lack of comprehension and understanding of the seriousness of the enemy we are fighting, the life and death struggle we are in, and the disastrous results of losing this war, nothing can.
To bring our country to a virtual political standstill over this prisoner issue makes us look like Nero playing his fiddle as
Th ese people are a serious and dangerous liability to the war effort. We must take note of who they are and get them out of office. Remember, the Muslim terrorists stated goal is to kill all infidels. That translates into ALL non-Muslims — not just in the
We have been criticized for many years as being ‘arrogant.’ That charge is valid. We are arrogant in that we believe that we are so good, powerful, and smart that we can win the hearts and minds of all those who attack us, and that, with both hands tied behind our back, we can defeat anything bad in the world.We can’t!
If we don’t recognize this, our nation, as we know it, will not survive, and no other free country in the world will survive if we are defeated.
And, finally, name any Muslim countries throughout the world that allow freedom of speech, freedom of thought, freedom of religion, freedom of the press, equal rights for anyone — let alone everyone, equal status or any status for women, or that have been productive in one single way that contributes to the good of the world.
This has been a long way of saying that we must be united on this war or we will be equated in the history books to the self- inflicted fall of the
If we don’t win this war right now, keep a close eye on how the Muslims take over
The French will be fighting among themselves over what should or should not be done, which will continue to weaken them and keep them from any united resolve. Doesn’t that sound eerily familiar?
Democracies don’t have their freedoms taken away from them by some external military force. Instead, they give their freedoms away, politically correct piece by politically correct piece.
And they are giving those freedoms away to those who have shown, worldwide, that they abhor freedom and will not apply it to you or even to themselves, once they are in power.
Muslims have universally shown that when they have taken over, they then start brutally killing each other over who the few will be controlling the masses.
What is happening in
I close on a hopeful note by repeating what I said before: If we are united, there is no way that we can lose.I hope now, after the election, the factions in our country will begin to focus on the critical situation we are in, and will unite to save our country. It is your future we are talking about. Do whatever you can to preserve it. I reiterate: our national election is under way.
After reading the above, we all must do this, not only for ourselves, but for our children, our grandchildren, our country, and our world. Whether Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal … and that includes the Politicians and media of our country and the free world.
Please forward this to any you feel may want, or NEED to read it. Our “leaders” in Congress ought to read it, too. There are those who find fault with our country, but it is obvious to anyone who truly thinks through this, that we must UNITE!
Lastly, I wish to add: at the risk of offending, I sincerely think that anyone who rejects this as just another political rant, or doubts the seriousness of this issue, or just deletes it without sending it on, is part of the problem. Let’s quit laughing at an d forwarding the jokes and cartoons which denigrate and ridicule our leaders in this war against terror. They are trying to protect the interests and well being of the

This guy,(in my estimation), has written a very good report on what we are facing and will, (if we don’t do something), be facing even more of, in the future.
He has, I believe, all his “facts” straight, and presents them in a (tell it like it is) fashion. What he says makes sense, and what he predicts will almost certainly come to pass if we, (as he say’s), continue to sit on our collective hands, (cleaned up version).
However! (And you knew a However, was coming didn’t you?),except for a couple of allusions as to “Uniting our people, and supporting our Leadership”, he doesn’t explain how we are to do what needs to be done to combat this very real threat to us and others throughout the world.
Supporting our “Leadership”, is fine, as long as “They” take this war seriously, and not place it in some “pre-conceived”niche of how wars should be conducted.
Past Wars! Yes even ones like WW1, and WW2, were in many cases fought as battles have been since the beginning of time. I.E. With “Gentlemanly rules”, like you salute foreign troops who showed exceptional courage on the battle fields, or in the air. You “Outlaw” certain things, such as Poison Gas, and or Biological weapons.
From what I read in the Paper, and see on T.V. the religious nuts pulling the strings in virtually all Muslim Nations, are by past standards, not playing fair.
Does that sound as stupid to you as it does to me?
When will Our glorious Leadership realize that this is not the “Gentleman’s War” of old, but a whole new type of enemy we are facing?
I! For one! Find it almost unbelievably stupid to have our troops, while flushing out enemy soldiers from hiding in Mosques, to have to await special approval before fighting back , even while their men are being slaughtered by these enemy soldiers. What makes Mosques any more sacred than the many other Religious edifices that have been destroyed by rampaging Muslims?
Our Field Commanders, must be given more free reign on what to do while under fire, and with no, “Repeat” NO, repercussions after the job is done. Our Military Commanders are savy enough, (or should be), to handle any “over zealousness”, of their troops, than anyone sitting in Washington, or New York.
While I will never see the importance of Torture, I see nothing wrong in, effect, fighting fire with fire. I.E. Unless I’ve been misinformed, Muslims can enter Heaven, by killing “infidels”, but according to Allah, they may not go to Heaven if they are in contact with the “Unclean” things of this earth. So why not, when we capture or kill a Muslim leader, we sew his body in the skin of an Unclean Pig, and bury him that way, where no one can find him. Why not destroy Mosques used as Armories, and spread the blood of Pigs over the grounds they were on, so that they will be forever Unclean?
Since Religion is being used against us, should we not use Religion against them?
Will this “Unite the Muslim world against us”? Possibly! But better now than later when they are stronger. Though I really believe they will be more afraid of us, if they learn they may forever find themselves wrapped in a pig skin, thus having no chance of attaining Heaven.
Of course, when making a threat like this, we must be prepared to do as we say, else it will not work.
Would there be opposition to tactics such as this? Here at home? Of course!
But if it works, would anyone care?
No doubt there are other things we might do to fight Muslim encroachment, but this, I think, is worth a try.

Before going into any discussion on Politics, etc. I think it probably would be a good idea to introduce myself, and, in effect, where I’m coming from. I’m a 78 year old male of Danish decent, (Like Fred), as a mater of fact, we went to the same High School, and Church as Kids. After Graduation, we never saw each other again till our 50th High School reunion. In the mean time we led entirely differently type lives. I don’t know all the things he did to keep the wolf from his door, but I went to sea, as, first, a “Messman”, on a Navy owned, civilian manned Oil Tanker. I only stayed in the Stewards Department that one trip, then transfered to the Engine Department, where I continued to sail for the next nearly 39 years. During that span of time, I managed to climb the ladder of rank,from Wiper, (the lowest rank in the Engine Department), to Chief Engineer, (the highest rank in that Department), where I retired at the age of 56 due to Degenerative Arthritis.I never served in the Military, though I was on many Navy owned, civilian manned ships, that delivered fuels of one type or another to Naval bases in the U.S. and foreign country’s as well. I was the last of a family of seven kids, and like many Scandinavian descended folks, seem to have a bit of talent for talking.My Dad Chris, was, (as a young man), so gifted, (if thats the right word), in talking, that he was “dubbed”, “Windy Chris”, this name stuck with him through most of his life.A brother of mine, (at the age of about seven) decided to also name two of our other Brothers after our Dad, so he called them, My Dad, Chris the first, my Brother Floyd, Chris the second, and my Brother Lloyd, Chris the third. There was a problem however, as My Brother Arnold had a bit of a speech impediment at the time, and as he spoke the new nick names they came out, Twiss da first Twiss da secon, and Twiss da turd! Everybody laughed, (I didn’t understand why), I was only one, but my Mom, (after a hidden chuckle), put her foot down and that was the last of the nick names in our household. But because of this and the fact that I spent so many years sailing in what is called the (birth place of storms), I.E. The Gulf of Alaska), I may take the Nom de plume, Full Gale Dale! What do you think? Now that that is over, I can get back to what I do best,(I think), Spouting off about almost anything. Be talking at you soon.

Uncle Fred is right.The war is not being fought wisely.The other side spends pennies on bombs and recruiting fanatics,and we spend ourselves into insolvency.Our brave army is deployed unwisely in Iraq and Afghanistan,unable to use our huge advantages in training,technology and sheer firepower.Our irreplaceable young people are asked to fight,weighed down with all the well intentioned,but unwinnable restrictions on where,when,and how they can fight.Our great guys being picked off 2 or 3 at a time,trying their best to follow rules the Islamicists laugh at.It makes me wish we had leaders with the wisdom and intelligence of the Greatest Generation.Franklin Roosevelt,George Marshall,Harry Truman and all their contemporaries would know how to force the Islamic fundamentalists to spend all they had,and throw their fanatics uselessly at walls of American firepower.All through the late cold war I was optimistic-I never thought for a minute the Russians would plunge us into Nuclear war.I am not optimistic about these Islamic fundamentalists.I believe we will see them blow up Tel Aviv,or Paris,London,or New York.After the inevitable retribution that reduces the Middle East to ruins,the civilized world will have to take over,rebuild those nations,and outlaw Wahabiism,just as we did with Germany and the Nazi’s and Militarist Japan in 1945.I hope I am wrong.I hope the voices of reason and moderation start to speak up in the middle east.They better do it fast.Thanks for hearing me out,Mark.

Mark, love your remarks, not sure what a ‘Wahabiism’ is but it sounds like a super word to use about a bloody mess.
In my opinion it is hopeless to try and save lives. We should get our ass out of Iraq and let them have the civil war they seem determined to have among themselves. For our kids to be over there trying to keep em apart is crazy. As you say, our kids are dying three or four at a time trying to keep the sides apart. Our nation had it’s bloody civil war over slavery, if they are determined to kill each other, let em do it. Keep our kids out of it.
Also one good thing may be they get so damn busy killing each other that they forget about the rest of the world for a few years. Seems like a insurmountable mess as the rest of the middle east could be drawn into this tribal conflict, so stupid, all are Moslems yet they are killing each other.
Unfortunately the actual terriorist were not from Iraq, they were Saudi’s, a fact Mr. Bush choose to forget when he started his mess in the first place, as they are buddy’s of him and his Daddy. Amazing, he is responsible for over 4,000 U. S. troops being killed and counting, thousands other U. S. kids lives destroyed. Hundreds of thousands of Iraq’s being killed or worse and he walks free. No impeachment, just will walk off with a big fat pension in exactly 276 days from today the day I am writing this. That is amazing, he should be stood against a wall and shot, of put in prison with his buddy Chaney.
Yes, I have a calendar giving me daily the count of the days left of this total bastard ruining our nation.

Full Gale Dale: It appears that, (at least for the “nonce”), I just cant keep from shooting off my big mouth! As promised, this missive will be about “Sex”. Now all of you folks of about the same age as myself,(78), please don’t get all worked up over this statement, as I don’t intend to reveal all of my own exploits, nor those of others, that don’t conform with my central theme. I’m sure, we all have found movies, T.V. skits etc. embarrassing from time to time, (especially when younger folks, both girls and boys are present). The language and promiscuity of modern filming is said, by some, to have begun with the final words of Rhett Butler,(Clark Gable), in the motion picture, (Academy award winner, actually), “Gone with the wind”. You remember when he turned to Scarlett O’Hara’s Query of what was she to do? He answered. “Frankly my dear! I don’t give a damn”! It may be true that this phrase started the movement, but I think , once the door was opened, (lawyer talk), there was no stopping all forms of smut from reaching the airwaves, which is really quite sad, (not that a little realism isn’t called for at times), but they, as we all know, went about it in all the wrong ways. I’m sure many of you may not know what I’m talking about, but having sailed for years with men who are not noted for their linguistic skills, and use “cussin” as almost an after thought in most any conversation, I have to say that, the Movie, and T.V. Industries, haven’t a clue as to what swear words to use, and how to use them. Unfortunately, they have elected to use swear words only for they’re “shock value” and not as any realistic form of communication. The “Sexually explicit” scenes are filmed with the same stupid amateurish directorship as the dialog is written. Where have these people been all their lives? It has been said that the “Hollywood set”, spend an inordinate amount of time trying to be “Avant Guard”, and tend to foist this kind of lifestyle off to the rest of us. Maybe so! And yes! Some folks even like this sort of thing, sophomoric as it really is. Pity! The newest movies etc. seem to be leaning toward the (integrating), of homosexual folks into the mainstream of dramas, mysteries, comedy and other attention getting endeavors. Again they lack the expertise of doing this in a tasteful manner, but try rather to (in effect), shove it down our collective throats, as a natural and certain condition and should be accepted as such by all. When will they learn? I think I’ve learned to know when to stop writing, so, Be talking at you later….Dale
